Time for Tea
Time for Tea September 2017

While we might be known as the home to the ‘Best Coffee on the Coast’, we also serve a pretty mean cup of tea and we think that tea is fast returning to its number one spot as the UK’s favourite beverage.

The UK may be groaning under the weight of coffee bars and coffee carts, offering everything from mocha lattes to piccolos but the real trendsetter at the moment is the UK’s perennial favourite – the cup of tea.

This is not tea as your grandparents knew it. Although ‘builders’ is still very much on the menu, these days tea comes in all flavours and colours and each with its own associated health benefits. The Story behind Black Shuck
The story behind Black Shuck August 2017

We recently took delivery of a real summer treat, some limited edition Black Shuck Blush Gin. While this beautiful pink gin is a real summer delight, we have been stocking Black Shuck’s Gins for a while now and, we can testify to both its popularity and its fabulous taste.

A Brief History of Chocolate
A Brief history of Chocolate July 2017

To keep up-to-date with all that is taking place in the world of food, drink, design and fashion, we often take ourselves off to the various fairs and trade shows that take place around the UK throughout the year.

One of the best shows we have been to recently is the Harrogate Food Show, in Yorkshire. Denise and Gemma travelled up to the show and discovered some great new items for our deli and market. Not to mention, some of the ingredients and ideas that will soon be making an appearance on the menu.

One of the highlights of the visit was a chance meeting with James Cadbury, the founder of Love Cocoa James has his roots firmly in the UK’s great chocolate making heritage - his great, great, great grandfather was the founder of Cadbury’s chocolate. It is no surprise that Love Cocoa has found its way onto our shelves and into Gemma’s Mocha, Walnut Viennese Whirls and it seems obvious that James’ ability to create wonderful chocolate has its roots in a 200-year-old family tradition.
