Half-term is always a frantic time in the Deli. After the dark winter months, the Deli bursts into life as families take the opportunity to get away from it all and spend a week by the sea. With the playing fields next door and the large outside dining area, we are able to cater for energetic kids, excitable dogs and adults who just want a cup of coffee and a chat with their friends. The deli is at its best when the pace is frenetic, the restaurant is full of chatter and laughter and the whole vibe is one of buzz and bustle.
Mothers Day (26 March) is a date that we always celebrate in style. We think mothers and grandmothers are worthy of huge celebrations and our shop will be packed to the rafters with gifts that show just how much those special women mean to us. Whether it is a pampering body lotion, a scented candle, a beautiful cushion or a bottle of something sparkly, we pretty much have it covered. We will also be serving a Mothers Day lunch, so look out for further details.
And then it is on to the main event. We always think of Easter as the gateway into summer. The wardrobe begins to change, winter Hygge jumpers go back in the cupboards and the summer dresses and shorts start to make a timid appearance. Visit our gardening section to refresh your herbs and garden accessories; look out for new barbecue ideas in the kitchen section of the shop and be one of the first to brave the April showers with a picnic crammed with goodies from the deli counter.
In the run-up to Easter, look out for our fabulous hot cross buns. These fragrant little buns with their juicy raisins and soft texture are the sure sign that Easter is on its way and another few months of sunny times on the north Norfolk coast are just a round the corner.
NB: Even as I write this blog, Janie and Denise are tearing up the motorway to the NEC to the 2017 Spring Fair. Expect some brand new looks and some great new ideas for your home, kitchen and garden!
